Be a Lamp Unto Yourself
In this episode, I explore the concept of becoming your own teacher, drawing parallels from my experience teaching paragliding. I discuss how, while teachers and guides are essential for learning the fundamentals and ensuring safety, true wisdom develops when we take responsibility for our own learning and trust our inner judgment. Key takeaways include the importance of paying attention to your inner voice and verifying it against reality, practicing sitting with discomfort, journaling your experiences, maintaining a beginner's mind, and leaning into community for support. This approach is crucial for navigating life's challenges and recognizing our inherent capacity for wisdom, often referred to as Buddha nature, which is already within us and simply needs to be uncovered.
