Dependent Origination
In this episode, I explore the Buddhist concept of dependent origination, also known as the twelve links or the law of causality. This teaching reveals that nothing exists in isolation; everything is interconnected and arises due to a web of causes and conditions. A key takeaway is that our sense of self is not a permanent, independent entity but a fluid construct dependent on various factors, and understanding this can lead to greater self-awareness and skillful relationships. The practical application lies in observing our reactions and emotions, recognizing their interdependent nature, and responding with wisdom rather than ignorance, ultimately breaking the chain of reactivity and fostering a more skillful engagement with life.
