The illusion of the ego
In this episode, I explore the illusion of the ego, drawing on the Buddhist concept of "no-self" (anatta). I explain that our sense of self, or ego, is not a permanent, independent entity but rather a constantly changing construct made up of various parts like our body, memories, personality, and skills. The key takeaway is that by understanding our interdependence and impermanence, we can loosen the grip of the ego, which often leads to suffering through attachment to labels and judgments. This understanding has practical applications in how we react to offense, how we perceive others, and how we can cultivate greater compassion and courage to simply be.
