Looking Deeply At Suffering
In this episode, I explore the concept of looking deeply at suffering, defining it as wanting life to be other than what it is. I explain that "looking deeply" involves understanding suffering through the lenses of impermanence and interdependence, recognizing that all phenomena, including our suffering, are interconnected and constantly changing. Key takeaways include the idea that suffering is never independent and always coexists with non-suffering, and the practical application of this understanding through the concept of "radical okayness"—being okay with the present moment regardless of circumstances. I also outline five steps for working with suffering: recognize, accept, embrace, look deeply, and gain insight, emphasizing that transformation is a gradual process.
