Sometimes We Try Too Hard
In this episode, I explore the Buddhist concept of the middle way, using the parable of the lute to illustrate how trying too hard or not trying hard enough can lead to discontent. I highlight that the key is finding a balance, much like tuning a lute, and that this principle applies to all areas of life, not just meditation. A crucial takeaway is that we are both the lute and the lute player, meaning only we can discover our personal middle way through introspection, and we must learn to be comfortable with the uncertainty of our inner narrator's pronouncements. This teaching encourages a shift from reactive living to skillful action by examining our timing and adjusting our effort in the present moment, the "eternal now."
